  • Weddings

To get married in Scotland, all you need is a licensed celebrant, two witnesses, and the right paperwork.

But weddings are much more than that. They are a celebration of hope and of magic - a chance for everyone in your circle to come together and celebrate you and honour the love that you’d found.

  • Naming Ceremonies

Whether welcoming little ones to the world, marking a change of name, honouring a new identity or celebrating a rite of passage such as an adoption, naming ceremonies can be a magical way to celebrate a person.

They can be held anywhere you choose, for children of any age, even grown-up ones.

I belong to a group of amazing celebrants who work together as Independent Humanist Ceremonies. Together we seek to promote the doctrine of humanism and offer heartfelt, inclusive and equitable ceremonies. In the event that I’m not available (or if fate unexpectedly intervenes), this marvellous organisation will be there to offer backup and will make sure your day goes to plan. Through Independent Humanist Ceremonies, I'm fully insured and registered with the Registrar General to provide legal wedding ceremonies.

What is Humanism?

Humanism emphasises the fundamental and equal value of every human life, celebrates our interconnectedness and finds its foundations in our responsibilities to the earth and to each other. The central philosophy of humanism is that we ourselves are enough.

It offers a vision of a fairer and more equitable world, placing weight on what unites us. Each of us is part of a network of families and communities and humanism emphasises and celebrates the bonds of kindness, trust and respect.

Let’s work together…
